Bio

Sebastián García is a malware researcher and security educator specializing in applied machine learning on network traffic. He founded the Stratosphere Laboratory to advance impactful, free-software-driven security research that helps protect users and their digital rights. As an Assistant Professor and researcher, he works on machine learning for security, honeypots, malware traffic detection, social network abuse detection, distributed scanning (dnmap), keystroke dynamics, fake news analysis, Bluetooth and SDR-based detection, privacy protection, and intrusion detection. He has taught at multiple universities, worked in penetration testing for industry and government, and spoken at conferences including Black Hat, DEF CON Villages, Ekoparty, DeepSec, Hacktivity, Botconf, Hack.lu, InBot, Security Sessions, ECAI, Citizen Lab, ArgenCon, FSFE, Virus Bulletin, BSides Vienna, HITB Singapore, CACIC, and AAMAS. He co-founded MatesLab hackerspace in Argentina and the Independent Fund for Women in Tech.
